Tucson Southeast Arizona Birding Festival 2020

I had the distinct honor of presenting Birdability at the outset of the 3-day virtual event. Though TAS could not hold the event in person because of Covid-19, they did an AMAZING job of holding a genuinely fun festival, complete with the Bill Thompson Youth Achievement Award, interesting and interactive breakout sessions with well known experts, and frequent free gift drawings for really cool stuff! Luke Safford, Volunteer Program and Festival Manager, is so incredibly talented. He kept the show on the road with humor and grace...and just good ole' personality!

I really enjoyed my first Southeast Arizona Birding Festival. The Tucson Audubon Society is so much fun and so forward thinking. I am proud to be an honorary member!

Virginia Rose

Virginia fell off a horse at the age of 14 which resulted in a spinal cord injury. A wheelchair user ever since, she began birding 17 years ago and discovered her best self in nature. She has led bird outings for Travis Audubon for seven years, and leads the accessible outings for the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival each year.

As a retired high school English teacher, she is passionate about bringing the same joy of birding and nature to others who have mobility or other accessibility challenges. Her infectious positive attitude is the force behind Birdability.
